Three researchers from the Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Geology (Terry Gosliner, Chrissy Piotrowski, and Gary Williams) presented lectures and participated in the 2012 Biodiversity Research and Conservation Workshop held at the University of the Philippines (Manila, Luzon) in November. Over one hundred individuals took part from the University of the Philippines, the California Academy of Sciences, and various regulatory and conservation agencies in the Philippines. Subjects covered included: Systematic Biology and the Foundation of Comparative Biology, Applications of Systematics to Comparative Biology, and Education and Public Engagement: Leveraging Science for Formal Education and Public Audiences.
