Lectotype selected by Miranda Ribeiro 1953:398 [ref. 12732] [but perhaps specimen not isolated]. •Valid as Pseudochirocentrodon amazonicus Miranda Ribeiro 1920 -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:6 [ref. 9708]). •Valid as Ilisha amazonica (Miranda Ribeiro 1920) -- (Whitehead 1985:265 [ref. 5141], de Pinna & Di Dario in Reis et al. 2003:43 [ref. 27061], Menezes & Figueiredo in Menezes et al. 2003:40 [ref. 27192] dated 1923, Barriga Salazar 2014:104 [ref. 35745], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:33 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:14 [ref. 39298], Carvalho-Filho 2023:66 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Ilisha amazonica (Miranda Ribeiro 1920). Pristigasteridae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
