Syntypes: BMNH 1842.12.13.13 (right half skin), 1859.3.13.21 (1) Trinidad I. Also listed was Plate XVI. fig. B, but on preface p. vi it is stated, "The Plates referred to, and executed by Mr. Ford, will be published as a separate volume." Distribution: Western Atlantic: Florida (U.S.A.) and Bahamas south to Trinidad and Tobago, including southern Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Fernando de Noronha and Rocas Atoll (Brazil). IUCN (2017): Least Concern (as Haemulon chrysargyreum). Habitat: marine.
