Paratypes: ANSP 91013 (9), 91191 (10); BPBM 10436 (9); USNM 109368 (2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:30 [ref. 13621], Springer et al. 1991:19 [ref. 18888]. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Seychelles, Aldabra (Seychelles), Comoros and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.), Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia) and Pitcairn Group, north to Taiwan, south to southern Great Barrier Reef (Queensland, Australia).
