Syntypes: BMNH 1899.11.27.8 (1), MRAC 877 (1). •Valid as Barbus pleuropholis Boulenger 1899 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:280 [ref. 6186], Lévêque 1989:211 [ref. 13471], Lévêque in Lévêque et al. 1990:323 [ref. 21589], De Vos & Thys van den Audenaerde 1990:153 [ref. 20130]). •Valid as Clypeobarbus pleuropholis (Boulenger 1899) -- (Conway & Stiassny 2008:262 [ref. 29761], Kullander & Roberts 2012:366 [ref. 31751], Stiassny et al. 2016:12 [ref. 34182], Stiassny & Sakharva 2016:1410 [ref. 34176], Hayes & Armbruster 2017:351 [ref. 35417], Manda et al. 2019:13 [ref. 37046]).
