H.] & Swain [J.] in Gilbert 1887:63 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 10 (no. 607); ref. 17814] Stream flowing from the large spring at Tuscumbia, Alabama, U.S.A. Lectotype: USNM 36154 (now fragments). Paralectotypes: BMNH 1894.5.18.26-27 (2); CAS 22855 [ex IU 4768] (4); CAS-SU 1003 (30), 2683 (2); ?UMMZ 61717 (2), UMMZ 187512 [ex IU] (44, poor condition). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:74 [ref. 12291], Collette & Knapp 1967:41 [ref. 20211] as syntypes.
