Holotype (unique): SMF 7237. •Valid as Hemigrammus pretoensis Géry 1965 -- (Zarske & Géry 2002:26 [ref. 26553], Lima & Oyakawa in Reis et al. 2003:133 [ref. 27061], Barriga Salazar 2014:107 [ref. 35745], Lima et al. 2016:132 [ref. 34590], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:49 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Hemigrammus pretoensis Géry 1965. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: Amazon River basin: Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
