Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 21. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] (1) apparently lost. •Valid as Haploblepharus fuscus Smith 1950 -- (Compagno 1984:334 [ref. 6846], Bass 1986:92 [ref. 5635], Gubanov & Timoxin 1989:222 [ref. 36138], Compagno 1999:480 [ref. 25589], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S92 [ref. 27377], Human & Compagno 2006:41 [ref. 28823], Human 2007:22 [ref. 29330], Weigmann 2016:40 [ref. 34211], Almeida & Biscoito 2019:71 [ref. 37302], Ebert et al. 2021:49 [ref. 38234], Human & Ebert 2022:481 [ref. 39666]). Current status: Valid as Haploblepharus fuscus Smith 1950. Pentanchidae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Western Cape to KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). Habitat: marine.
