Holotype (unique): ZMB 19303. •Valid as Bathophilus longipinnis (Pappenheim 1914) (often dated 1912) -- (Gibbs 1986:237 [ref. 5655], Paxton et al. 1989:198 [ref. 12442], Pequeño 1989:31 [ref. 14125], Gibbs & Barnett 1990:309 [ref. 14915], Fricke 1999:89 [ref. 24106], Harold 1999:1912 [ref. 24741], Randall & Lim in Randall & Lim 2000:591 [ref. 25122], Harold 2003:911 [ref. 27001], Moore et al. 2003:187 [ref. 27076], Mundy 2005:180 [ref. 28379], Paxton et al. 2006:444 [ref. 28995], Harold 2016:1813 [ref. 34568], Carneiro et al. 2019:95 [ref. 37250], Sutton et al. 2020:95 [ref. 37832], Fermon et al. 2022:174 [ref. 39448] possible, Page et al. 2023:87 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Bathophilus longipinnis (Pappenheim 1914). Stomiidae: Melanostomiinae. Distribution: Circumglobal, except not eastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.
