leptosoma, Solenostomus Tanaka [S.] 1908:29, Figured [Annotationes Zoologicae Japonenses v. 7 (pt 1); ref. 14424] Yodomi, Sagami Sea, Japan. Holotype (unique): ZUMT 1784 (lost). The species epithet is based on the Greek word σωμα and is a noun in apposition; therefore the correct name is leptosoma. •Status uncertain -- (Orr & Fritzsche 1993:180 [ref. 20312], Orr et al. 2002:105 [ref. 26186]). •Considered a synonym of Solenostomus paradoxus (Pallas 1770) -- (Kuiter 1993:82 [ref. 23929]). •Valid as Solenostomus leptosomus Tanaka 1908 -- (Allen & Adrim 2003:27 [ref. 26830], Kuiter 2009:295 [ref. 30404], Allen & Erdmann 2012:183 [ref. 31980]). •Valid as Solenostomus leptosoma Tanaka 1908 -- (Senou 1994:4 [ref. 24341], Kuiter 1997:70 [ref. 25488], Nakabo 2000:518 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:518 [ref. 26001], Golani & Fricke 2018:48 [ref. 36273]). Current status: Valid as Solenostomus leptosoma Tanaka 1908. Solenostomidae. Distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: Mauritius east to Indonesia, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
