Type catalog: Bauchot 1969:134 [ref. 20807], Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:18 [ref. 6382]. Gilbert & Kelso 1971:36 [ref. 7678] needlessly emended the species spelling to broussoneti. •Valid as Umbrina broussonnetii Cuvier 1830 -- (Gilbert 1966:242 [ref. 21329], Chao 1978:29 [ref. 6983] as broussonetii, Cervigón 1992:413 [ref. 23827], Matamoros et al. 2009:19 [ref. 31241], Parenti 2020:54 [ref. 37439]). Current status: Valid as Umbrina broussonnetii Cuvier 1830. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic; Costa Rica south to Colombia; Greater Antilles. Habitat: marine.
