No types known. Illustrated in Valenciennes 1837: Pl. 37 (fig. 3) [ref. 17868] as C. blackburni. Neotype designation by Fricke 1999:327 [ref. 24106] is invalid; see Fricke 2000:639 [ref. 24537]. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal, straying to eastern Cape (South Africa), and East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya) east to Madagascar and Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues). Habitat: marine.
