Paralectotypes: BMNH 1899.9.26.104-106 (3) Kutu; MRAC 818 (1), 819 (1), 820 (1), 822-824 (3), 825-827 (3). Lectotype selected in Poll 1967:79, 87 [ref. 3529]. •Valid as Phenacogrammus leopoldianus (Boulenger 1899) -- (Géry 1995:54 [ref. 22057]). •Valid as Alestopetersius leopoldianus (Boulenger 1899) -- (Paugy 1984:162 [ref. 6183], Mbimbi Mayi Munene & Stiassny 2012:59 [ref. 31766], Stiassny et al. 2021:1687 [ref. 39000]). Current status: Valid as Alestopetersius leopoldianus (Boulenger 1899). Alestidae. Distribution: Central Africa: upper Congo River system (Democratic Republic of Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
