Distribution: Indo-Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Gulf of Aden, Socotra (Yemen), Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.) and Pitcairn, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands (Japan), south to Western Australia, New Caledonia, and Tonga; eastern Pacific: southern tip of Baja California Sur (Mexico), Revillagigedo Archipelago (Mexico), Clipperton Atoll (France), and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). Habitat: marine.
