Also described as new in Peters 1855:241 [ref. 13448]. •Valid as Ablabys binotatus (Peters 1855) -- (Poss 1986:479 [ref. 6296], Anderson et al. 1998:22 [ref. 23611], Mandrytsa 2001:278 [ref. 25636], Randall & Spreinat 2004:48 [ref. 27610], Prokofiev 2008:304 [ref. 29592], Varghese 2013:1 [ref. 36763], Fricke et al. 2018:136 [ref. 35805], Chungthanawong & Motomura 2018:127 [ref. 36252], Poss 2022:551 [ref. 39726], Selvakumar et al. 2022:50849 [ref. 40889]). Current status: Valid as Ablabys binotatus (Peters 1855). Synanceiidae: Tetraroginae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: South Africa and East Africa to Madagascar and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius); Gulf of Mannar (southern India) and southeast coast of India. Habitat: marine.
