Holotype: USNM (not found). Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1968:56 [ref. 20738] with A.3278 as holotype, Zarske 2003:31 [ref. 27474], but see Sheiko & Mecklenburg 2004:18 [ref. 27591]. The species xyosterna dates to 2 July 1880 and predates annae Steindachner published after 15 July 1880.
