argentilineatus, Periophthalmus Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1837:191 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 12; ref. 1006] Molucca Islands, Indonesia. Lectotype: MNHN A-1499. Paralectotypes: MNHN A-1402 (4), A-1487 (1), A-1500 (1), A-1501 (1), B-2915 (1), B-2916 (1); RMNH 1964 (1). Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1991:43 [ref. 19958]. Lectotype selected by Murdy 1989:35 [ref. 13628]. See Fricke 1999:518 [ref. 24106]. The lectotype designation may be invalid, as a Moluccas specimen was not mentioned in the original description (which included material from Waigiou, Oualan, New Guinea, Irrawaddy/Myanmar and Java/Indonesia), so it may have not been part of the type series. •Synonym of Periophthalmus kalolo Lesson 1831 -- (Kottelat 2013:419 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Periophthalmus argentilineatus Valenciennes 1837 -- (Murdy 1989:32 [ref. 13628], Randall et al. 1990:406 [ref. 15987], Allen 1991:190 [ref. 21090], Kottelat et al. 1993:148 [ref. 23448], Goren & Dor 1994:65 [ref. 25356], Larson & Williams 1997:371 [ref. 23967], Allen 1997:222 [ref. 23977], Randall et al. 1997:406 [ref. 25919], Myers 1999:237 [ref. 23965], Johnson 1999:749 [ref. 25471], Larson in Randall & Lim 2000:639 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2000:1156 [ref. 25182], Laboute & Grandperrin 2000:70 [ref. 25191], Laboute & Grandperrin 2000:413 [ref. 25191], Allen et al. 2000:127 [ref. 27467], Sakai et al. 2001:115 [ref. 25693], Hutchins 2001:43 [ref. 25847], Larson & Murdy 2001:3602 [ref. 26293], Allen et al. 2002:280 [ref. 25930], Nakabo 2002:1156 [ref. 26193], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S117 [ref. 27377], Myers & Donaldson 2003:641 [ref. 27495], Shibukawa et al. in Kimura & Matsuura 2003:189 [ref. 27510], Tan & Lim 2004:111 [ref. 27716], Larson & Takita 2004:184 [ref. 28075], Larson & Pidgeon 2004:197 [ref. 28107], Randall 2005:545 [ref. 28239], Hoese & Larson 2006:1673 [ref. 29097], Larson et al. 2008:139 [ref. 29532], Jaafar & Larson 2008:952 [ref. 29863], Motomura et al. 2010:217 [ref. 31256], Takita et al. 2011:196 [ref. 31704], Murdy 2011:105 [ref. 31728], Schliewen 2011:212 [ref. 31738], Larson et al. 2013:204 [ref. 32988], Fricke et al. 2014:170 [ref. 33932], Polgar et al. 2014:166 [ref. 35464], Jaafar et al. 2016:283 [ref. 34685], Koeda et al. 2016:94 [ref. 35333], Murdy & Jaafar 2017:17 [ref. 35561] taxonomic work is needed, Fricke et al. 2018:337 [ref. 35805], Golani & Fricke 2018:158 [ref. 36273], Wada et al. 2021:50 [ref. 38521], Jamaluddin et al. 2022:[8] [ref. 39245], Larson 2022:174 [ref. 39971], Bogorodsky & Goren 2023:2 [ref. 40247], Jamandre 2023:170 [ref. 40455]).
