Syntypes: (several) BMNH 1874.1.16.54 (6). •Synonym of Thryssa kammalensis (Bleeker 1849) -- (Zhang 2001:138 [ref. 26586]). •Valid as Thrissina chefuensis (Günther 1874) -- (Hata & Koeda 2020:107 [ref. 37348], Hata et al. 2020:[2] [ref. 37452], Sonoyama et al. 2020:21 [ref. 37637]). •Valid as Thryssa chefuensis (Günther 1874) -- (Whitehead et al. 1988:427 [ref. 5725], Munroe & Nizinski in Randall & Lim 2000:588 [ref. 25122], Kanou et al. 2002:404 [ref. 26503], Hata in Kimura et al. 2018:42 [ref. 36460]). Current status: Valid as Thryssa chefuensis (Günther 1874). Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: southern China and Taiwan north to Korea and Japan. Habitat: marine.
