Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; ref. 471] Saturday Cove, Breaksea Sound, Fiordland, New Zealand, 45°35.880′S, 166°43.717′E, depth 20-30 meters. Neotype: NMNZ P.055326. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). •Valid as Eptatretus cirrhatus (Forster 1801) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:25 [ref. 12442], Paulin et al. 1989:8 [ref. 24556], Shimizu in Amaoka et al. 1990:53 [ref. 16024], Fernholm 1991:117 [ref. 20219], Fernholm & Paxton 1998:1192 [ref. 23784], Fernholm 1998:34 [ref. 23976], Mincarone & Stewart 2006:225 [ref. 28682], Paxton et al. 2006:39 [ref. 28994], Gomon & Mincarone 2008:27 [ref. 30615], Mincarone & Fernholm 2010:781 [ref. 30926], Fernholm & Mincarone 2010:1002 [ref. 30998], Kuo et al. 2010:856 [ref. 31001], Knapp et al. 2011:404 [ref. 37507], Zintzen et al. 2015:366 [ref. 33803], Zintzen et al. 2015:27 [ref. 34212]). Current status: Valid as Eptatretus cirrhatus (Forster 1801). Myxinidae: Eptatretinae. Distribution: Australia and New Zealand. Habitat: marine.
