Syntypes: (many) ?BMNH 1879.11.14.144-147 [ex ZIN] (4) Suchum-Kali; no types found at ZIN. Also appeared as new in Kessler 1860:117 [ref. 18393]. •Synonym of Chalcalburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772), but a valid subspecies -- (Berg 1949:740 [ref. 20661], Lelek 1987:175 [ref. 22962]). •Synonym of Chalcalburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772) -- (Kottelat 1997:53 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Alburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772) -- (Bogutskaya 1997:165 [ref. 23566]). •Synonym of Alburnus mento (Heckel 1836) -- (Parin et al. 2014:68 [ref. 33547] dated 1837). •Synonym of Alburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772), but a valid subspecies -- (Bogutskaya 1998:59 [ref. 23589]). •Valid as Alburnus mentoides Kessler 1859 -- (Freyhof & Kottelat 2007:205 [ref. 29339], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:171 [ref. 29996], Bogutskaya et al. 2017:93 [ref. 35513], Dyldin et al. 2020:111 [ref. 37569], Dyldin et al. 2023:[30] [ref. 40328] with question). Current status: Valid as Alburnus mentoides Kessler 1859. Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Eastern urope: Crimea, Black and Azov Sea basins (Ukraine/Russia). Habitat: freshwater.
