Lectotype: BMNH 1866.5.2.216. Paralectotypes: (8) RMNH 4984 (5), 8062 (1). Original as oxygastroïdes. Lectotype selected by Alfred 1963:129 [ref. 20554]. Lectotype locality unknown. Chela megalolepis Günther 1868 is an unneeded substitute name. •Valid as Oxygaster oxygastroides (Bleeker 1852) -- (Bănărescu 1969:192 [ref. 7797], Bănărescu 1971:17 [ref. 20612], Roberts 1989:57 [ref. 6439]). •Valid as Parachela oxygastroides (Bleeker 1852) -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:41 [ref. 23448], Kottelat 1995:57 [ref. 21728], Rainboth 1996:69 [ref. 22772], Doi 1997:9 [ref. 22832], Kottelat 2000:85 [ref. 25486] as cf. oxygastroides, Kottelat 2001:68 [ref. 25780] as cf. oxygastroides, Kottelat & Widjanarti 2005:153 [ref. 28284], Kottelat 2013:138 [ref. 32989], Kottelat 2015:43 [ref. 33971], Ng et al. 2019:528 [ref. 36606], Taki et al. 2021:76 [ref. 39830]). Current status: Valid as Parachela oxygastroides (Bleeker 1852). Xenocyprididae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Sundaland, Chao Phraya and Mekong River basins, Indonesia, Malay Peninsula, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Habitat: freshwater.
