Syntypes and/or Day specimens: AMS B.7732 (1, syntype) Lahore, BMNH 1889.2.1.1393-1402 (10), NMW 54141 (1), RMNH 2718 (1). Type catalog: Whitehead & Talwar 1976:156 [ref. 23762], Ferraris et al. 2000:301 [ref. 25110]. Species originally spelled as above, but prevailing usage as punjabensis. •Valid as Salmophasia punjabensis (Day 1872) -- (Mirza 2003:4 [ref. 27265]). •Valid as Salmostoma punjabense (Day 1872) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:326 [ref. 20764] as punjabensis, Rafique et al. 2003:97 [ref. 27173] as punjabensis, Çiçek et al. 2023:52 [ref. 40326]). Current status: Valid as Salmostoma punjabense (Day 1872). Danionidae: Chedrinae. Distribution: South Asia: India and Pakistan. Habitat: freshwater.
