On p. 95 of reprint in Chevey 1929 [ref. 16215]. Lectotype selected by Kottelat 1987:20 [ref. 11434]. Original genus should have been Tetraodon. •If removed from Tetraodon then a synonym of Crayracion ocellatus Steindachner 1870, the latter preoccupied by T. ocellatus Linnaeus 1758 -- (Kottelat 1987:20 [ref. 11434]). •Valid as Chelonodon biocellatus (Tirant 1885) -- (Rainboth 1996:225 [ref. 22772]). •Valid as Tetraodon biocellatus Tirant 1885 -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:174 [ref. 23448], Ebert 2001:20 [ref. 25494], Yoshida et al. 2013:233 [ref. 34464]). •Synonym of Dichotomyctere ocellatus (Steindachner 1870) -- (Kottelat 2013:476 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Dichotomyctere ocellatus (Steindachner 1870). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Indochina and Indonesia (if valid). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
