Lectotype: BMNH 1935.6.14.1817. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1935.6.14.1818-1819 (2), 1935.6.14.1820-1822 (3). Lectotype selected by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:297 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Copadichromis prostoma (Trewavas 1935) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:296 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:57 [ref. 20944], Stauffer & Sato 2002:91 [ref. 26070]). •Valid as Nyassachromis prostoma (Trewavas 1935) -- (Stauffer & Konings 2006:11 [ref. 28633], Konings 2016:325 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Nyassachromis prostoma (Trewavas 1935). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
