National Museum No. 2; ref. 1848] 28°02'30"N, 87°43'45"W, Albatross station 2380, depth 1430 fathoms. Lectotype: MCZ 100637 [ex MCZ 28013]. Paralectotypes: MCZ 28013 (1), 51989 (1). Lectotype selected by McDowell 1973:121 [ref. 34539] but with wrong locality; the description was based on the Albatross specimen (lectotype) and the figure was based on the Blake specimen. •Valid as Aldrovandia gracilis Goode & Bean 1896 -- (McDowell 1973:114 [ref. 24539], Sulak 1990:127 [ref. 19326], McEachran & Fechhelm 1998:213 [ref. 23897], Figueiredo & Menezes in Menezes et al. 2003:32 [ref. 27192], Smith 2003:687 [ref. 26989], Smith 2016:1597 [ref. 34556], Carneiro et al. 2019:56 [ref. 37250], Fermon et al. 2022:111 [ref. 39448] with question, Page et al. 2023:50 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Aldrovandia gracilis Goode & Bean 1896. Halosauridae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Western Sahara south to Sierra Leone. Habitat: marine.
