Holotype: MBUCV-V-20400. Paratypes: AMNH 51513 (2), 93157-62 (16, 8, 37, 2, 18, 3); MBUCV-V-18564 (25, not 21); UMMZ 220251 (3, c&s); USNM 316804 (4), 316819 (4), 316820 (12, 4 c&s), 316821 (7). Type catalog: Provenzano et al. 1998:15 [ref. 24196]. •Valid as Ptychocharax rhyacophila Weitzman, Fink, Machado-Allison & Royero 1994 -- (Weitzman & Burns 1997:137 [ref. 24512] as rhyacophyla, Malabarba & Weitzman 2000:280 [ref. 24413], Weitzman in Reis et al. 2003:227 [ref. 27061], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add.5 [ref. 33893]). Current status: Valid as Ptychocharax rhyacophila Weitzman, Fink, Machado-Allison & Royero 1994. Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: Upper Siapa River in Casiquirae River drainage, Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
