Type catalog: Angulo et al. 2015:376 [ref. 35212]. •Valid as Hyphessobrycon savagei Bussing 1967 -- (Bussing 1987:87 [ref. 22927], Bussing 1998:108 [ref. 24179], Zarske & Géry 2002:25 [ref. 25832], Lima & Malabarba in Reis et al. 2003:140 [ref. 27061], García-Alzate et al. 2013:188 [ref. 32440], Angulo et al. 2013:992 [ref. 33194], Ota et al. 2020:427 [ref. 37391], Elías et al. 2023:3 [ref. 39863]). Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon savagei Bussing 1967. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: Middle America: Pírris and Térraba River drainages (Pacific Slope of Costa Rica). Habitat: freshwater.
