Paratypes: MCP 41635 (10). Plus non-type speciimens. Type catalog: Ferraris et al. 2017:[14] [ref. 35236]. •Valid as Sternarchorhynchus retzeri de Santana & Vari 2010 -- (Ferraris et al. 2017:[14] [ref. 35236], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:21 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Sternarchorhynchus retzeri de Santana & Vari 2010. Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: South America: broadly distributed in Amazon River basin (Brazil and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
