Holotype: CSU coll. Arabia fishes No. 1. Paratypes: CSU coll. Arabia fishes No. 2 (5), NMC 820109 (2). Cyprinion is neuter, therefore mandatory correction of the adjective to mhalense •Valid as Cyprinion mhalense Alkahem & Behnke 1983 -- (Krupp 1983:586 [ref. 8320] as mhalensis, Nasri et al. 2016:259 [ref. 34951] as mhalensis, Freyhof et al. 2020:135 [ref. 37658], Esmaeili & Hamidan 2023:208 [ref. 40377], Çiçek et al. 2024:141 [ref. 40789], Esmaeili et al. 2024:4 [ref. 40903]). Current status: Valid as Cyprinion mhalense Alkahem & Behnke 1983. Cyprinidae: Barbinae. Distribution: Middle East: Wadi ad-Dawasir drainage (Saudi Arabia). Habitat: freshwater.
