What's
New at the Academy Library?
Have
you been to the Academy Library recently? Have you talked to a librarian,
looked at the new journals, or explored
our web site?
New Subscription Database
Calflora added to databases. The Academy Library now has a subscription to Calflora. "Calflora provides information on wild California plants for conservation, education, and appreciation." You can access the database through the Library's Electronic Resources web page or through this link.

Electronic
Journals
Items
in purple are only available with a password.
Items in green are available free to all.
Many free titles limit access to current issues. Even if content indicates
2005, it may not reflect the most recent 3 or 6 months. Some titles
restrict by as many as 12 months. Ask a Librarian for more information.

BioOne
Abstracts and Indexes -- search the abstracts and indexes from
all the Academy's full-text BioOne titles. While it does not search
the full-text of each article, you can link to the full article from
the brief abstract. It features the same easy to use interface as Zoological
Abstracts.
New
Library Materials
Just a reminder that the Library receives more than 2800 current journal
subscriptions. Although we cannot display every new issue, many titles
are put on display on a rotating basis in the Library's reading room.
The display is changed every week on Monday. 210,000 books are also
part of the Library's collection, and new titles are added every day.
New books are also on display, on the same table as the journals, and
they are rotated on a weekly basis.

Center web page is now available!

Library
Orientations
New
to the Academy or just looking for a little more information? The Library
happily conducts orientations on library materials, including databases,
and services. You don't have to be new, and you're welcome even if you
use the Library all the time! Any Academy staff member is encouraged to
contact the Library (x8039)
for further information or to arrange a time. Outside groups are welcome
to contact the library about orientations, too!
New Library
Catalog
After an extensive review of library catalogs, the Academy chose the Ex
Libris Aleph catalog, the same catalog system used by Harvard University,
the University of Michigan, the California Digital Library, and many others.
Library staff, along with Ex Libris, are working hard to customize, learn,
and maintain the new system. For more information, contact the Library.
