The Amazon

Cattleya eldorado

The lack of nutrients in white sand areas of the central Amazon leaves plants stunted or finding other sources of nutrients. This orchid is an epiphytic plant, meaning it grows on another plant for support, but doesn't rob the host plant of nutrients. Instead, it utilizes nutrients that float in the air.
