in a forthcoming issue of the Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences, and I hereby transfer to the California Academy of Sciences my copyright rights to all of the material I contributed to the said Proceedings with the following reservations: (1) During my lifetime, I shall have the right to reuse and republish any of the material, or amended versions of it, in any publication for which I am author or co-author; (2) During my lifetime, no one else shall be allowed to use or publish any of the material that I submitted for publication in the Academy’s Proceedings, and which was then published in said Proceedings, without first obtaining permission from both myself and a representative of the California Academy of Sciences, Scientific Publications, except for short quotations or reviews and otherwise original works of research; (3) I grant the California Academy of Sciences a non-exclusive royalty-free license to display my contribution as it appears in the Proceedings in electronic format and either itself display it on the Internet or via other electronic media or contract with a third party to display it on the Internet or via other electronic media, allowing the users to view and print the information for scholarly/research purposes only and providing in all instances that my name, as author, is clearly associated with the article and the source of the article clearly identified.

I acknowledge that I have received permission to reproduce images and other materials included in my presentation where the ownership and copyrights to those materials reside with other persons and/or institutions. I have acquired the necessary permissions to use these copyrighted materials in my article and have so informed the Academy’s Editor of Scientific Publications. I hold the California Academy of Sciences blameless for any omissions on my part and/or my failure to obtain the necessary releases.
