Nine Bay Area counties. One Academy community.

We're committed to creating an Academy for All. That's why we’re opening our doors to more. Community Tickets are a new way to provide free Academy admission for families and individuals for whom cost of admission is a barrier. In partnership with health and social service agencies in all nine Bay Area counties, we're excited to make science even more accessible by offering free tickets on select dates.

Watch this page for future opportunities to reserve Community Tickets, or explore more ways to visit for free year-round.

When will the next round of Community Tickets be available?

Stay tuned! We'll update this page with more information on our next round of Community Tickets in fall 2019.

For more ways to visit for free or at a reduced rate year-round, check out our Free & Reduced Admission page.

If I don't reserve a Community Ticket, can I still visit for free?

To attend the museum for free on days when Community Tickets are accepted, you must have a free, reserved Community Ticket. If you do not have a free, reserved Community Ticket, you may still purchase a ticket to visit the museum on these days.

Why has the Academy shifted from Community Free Days to Community Tickets?

To ensure we’re reducing barriers to entry for the diverse communities that we serve, Community Tickets are part of a more targeted distribution program offering free Academy tickets to families and individuals for whom cost of admission is a barrier in all nine Bay Area counties.

What if I show up early/late for my ticketed time slot?

To make timely entry possible for all visitors, we’ve implemented timed tickets and strongly recommend arriving within your designated ticket time slot. Based on capacity, you may have to wait until your time slot to enter. If you arrive after your time slot, you will be allowed to enter as capacity allows.
