Horkelia
Horkelia tridentata ssp. tridentata
(Rosaceae)

The small flowers with short ribbon-like white petals help to make this species easily identifiable. Once the petals have fallen away from a flower, the green spreading calyx lobes impart a conspicuous star like outline. Although many members of this genus have glandular hairs and are generally resinous-smelling this species is essentially odorless.

DISTRIBUTION: Found in granite and volcanic soils between 300–2500m from the Sierra Nevada north to the Modoc Plateau, Cascade Range and adjacent Oregon.
