DIATOM GENUS PROJECT As part of a NSF-funded project, the Academy is compiling a database of verified diatom names (genus, species, variety and form names). The genus database contains nomenclatural information such as genus name, authorship, reference, page, type and author of typification (if applicable). We also comment on the status of the name (e.g., whether it is validly published or not, legitimate or not, etc.). We have also included references to recent revisions and monographs on particular genera.
