Springer 1963:452 [ref. 10211] doubted the locality, but specimens subsequently have been taken from there. •Synonym of Omobranchus punctatus (Valenciennes 1836) -- (Springer 1972:15 [ref. 4178], Springer & Gomon 1975:53 [ref. 6083], Lasso-Alcalá et al. 2011:572 [ref. 31520], Kottelat 2013:384 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Omobranchus sewalli (Fowler 1931) -- (Cabezas et al. 2022:6 [ref. 39340], Carvalho-Filho 2023:232 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Omobranchus sewalli (Fowler 1931). Blenniidae: Blenniinae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: Andaman Sea and introduced at Trinidad Island. Habitat: brackish, marine.
