longirostris, Monacanthus Hollard [H. L. G. M.] in Guichenot 1843:244 [Historia fisica, politica y natural de la isla de Cuba. Segunda parte. Historia natural. Tomo 4. Reptiles y peces; ref. 41293] Indian seas; Cuba. Syntypes: ?MNHN A-8478 (1) Indian seas. Type catalog: Beaunier et al. 2009:300 [ref. 28887]. Based on Hollard manuscript and reference to Parra from Hollard; original localities therefore are Indian seas and Cuba. Also appeared as new in Hollard in Guichenot 1853:184 [ref. 18164], and in Hollard 1854:46 Pl. 2 (fig. 3) [ref. 18300] as Triacanthus longirostris. Synonymous with Triacanthus strigilifer Cantor 1849, but has not been used as valid for the last 100 years; therefore reversal of precedence in favour of Triacanthus strigilifer Cantor 1849 (R. Fricke, pers. comm., June 2024). •Synonym of Pseudotriacanthus strigilifer (Cantor 1849) -- (Tyler 1968:290 [ref. 6438]). Nomen Oblitum. Current status: Synonym of Pseudotriacanthus strigilifer (Cantor 1849). Triacanthidae. Habitat: marine.
