mhalensis, Cyprinion Alkahem [H. F.] & Behnke [R. J.] 1983:556, Fig. 6a [Fauna of Saudi Arabia v. 5; ref. 8384] Permanent stream in Wadi (Valley) Almhaleh, southeast Abha City, Saudi Arabia. Holotype: CSU coll. Arabia fishes No. 1. Paratypes: CSU coll. Arabia fishes No. 2 (5), NMC 820109 (2). We now treat the gender of Cyprinion as masculine. •Valid as Cyprinion mhalensis Alkahem & Behnke 1983 -- (Krupp 1983:586 [ref. 8320], Nasri et al. 2016:259 [ref. 34951], Freyhof et al. 2020:135 [ref. 37658] as mhalense, Esmaeili & Hamidan 2023:208 [ref. 40377] as mhalense, Çiçek et al. 2024:141 [ref. 40789] as mhalense, Esmaeili et al. 2024:4 [ref. 40903] as mhalense). Current status: Valid as Cyprinion mhalensis Alkahem & Behnke 1983. Cyprinidae: Barbinae. Distribution: Middle East: Wadi ad-Dawasir drainage (Saudi Arabia). Habitat: freshwater.
