About the Database of Asian Plants in Cultivation (DAPC)

The Database of Asian Plants in Cultivation (DAPC) provides an inventory of living specimens, held at various institutions throughout North America and Europe, which have originated primarily from collecting expeditions to eastern Asia. Wild-source plant material of this nature represents an extremely valuable resource for researchers, conservation biologists, and Asian plant enthusiasts due to their well-documented origins and genetic purity. This database also highlights the importance of data sharing among botanical gardens, arboreta, and research institutions as a valuable means of evaluating wild-source collections relative to plant adaptability over a broad range of geographical settings.

This website database has been jointly created by the Quarryhill Botanical Garden in Glen Ellen, California, and the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
