Diagnosis
Males of this species have a distinctive, unique horn between the antennal bases. Unfortunately, females are indistinguishable from those of the Malagasy species without the antennal horn. Male genitalia show considerable variability (Meinander, 1998).

Type Locality
MADAGASCAR: Plateau Soalindrana, 2060 m, 14-17 January 1958, 1 male.
Geographical Distribution
This species is endemic to Madagascar and appears to be found in the eastern and northern parts of the country.
Temporal Distribution
This species can be found as adults in all months of the year.
Elevation
From 10 to 2400 m. Although sometimes found at lower elevations, most records are for elevations at or above 900 m.
Remarks
This species is very common at Ranomafana National Park.
