Ornate Wolf Snake, Lycophidion ornatum

Family Colubridae. This species is nocturnal, found active between 2100-0100 hrs. at air temperatures as low as 15.2°C. Most were foraging along the road banks in the vicinity of Ruhizha, probably seeking lizards of the genera Adolfus or Leptosiaphos.

Size: to 482 mm. TL.

Habitat: a terrestrial forest species, occuring up to 3000 m. at BINP.

Range: Western Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, southern and eastern Congo, western Tanzania to Angola.
