Coarse Chameleon, Chamaeleo rudis

Family Chamaeleonidae. C. rudis __ lack horns; body scales strongly differing in size; dorsal crest of conical large and small scales. This species was found in open areas; it occurs within the forest as well as outside of it. All specimens were collected between one and two meters above the water or ground.

Size: Males to 161 mm TL.

Habitat: open areas, within and outside of the forest at elevations above 2070 m.

Range: Eastern Congo, Rwanda and Burundi; relict populations on certain Tanzanian mountains.
