diplaemia, Hypsilepis Cope [E. D.] 1868:162 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 19; ref. 7316] Original genus should have been Hypsolepis. Apparently not an original description but a misidentification (and misspelling) of Semotilus diplemia Rafinesque 1820 [Cope cites Rafinesque as authority for name]; contrary to treatment in Gilbert 1978:41 [ref. 7042] and Gilbert 1998:71 [ref. 23395]. If Gilbert is followed, then ANSP 3054-55 (2) are syntypes and type locality is Grand R. (or tributary thereof), Lansing, Ingham Co., Michigan. •In the synonymy of Lythrurus umbratilis (Girard 1856), subspecies cyanocephalus Copeland 1877 -- (Gilbert 1998:71-72 [ref. 23395]). •In the synonymy of Chrosomus erythrogaster (Rafinesque 1820). Misspelling. Current status: Synonym of Chrosomus erythrogaster (Rafinesque 1820). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae.
