Holotype (unique): CAS 49902 [ex IU 15198, not 15202]. •Valid as Cauque wiebrichi Eigenmann 1928 -- (Pequeño 1989:51 [ref. 14125]). •Valid or possible hybrid between Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) x Odontesthes regia (Humboldt 1821) -- (Dyer 1998:535 [ref. 23858]). •Synonym of Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) or possible hybrid between Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) x Odontesthes regia (Humboldt 1821) -- (Dyer 2000:113 [ref. 26677]). •Valid or possible hybrid between O. brevianalis and O. regia -- (Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:522 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Synonym of Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880). Atherinopsidae: Atherinopsinae. Distribution: Valdivia, Chile. Habitat: freshwater, brackish. | ||

Betancourt-Resendes et al. 2019:14 [ref. 37138] synonymized Chirostoma chapalae Jordan & Snyder 1899 and C. promelas Jordan & Snyder 1899, and gave peference to chapalae. •Valid as Menidia chapalae (Jordan & Snyder 1899) -- (Miller 2006:193 [ref. 28615]). •Valid as Chirostoma chapalae Jordan & Snyder 1899 -- (Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:59 [ref. 22290], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:518 [ref. 27061], Nelson et al. 2004:98 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:100 [ref. 32708], Betancourt-Resendes et al. 2019:14 [ref. 37138], Piñeros et al. 2022:3 [ref. 39643], Page et al. 2023:139 [ref. 40505]).
