Georef. Remarks | No such Rio Canatlan here. Marker placed in result of "Arroyo Las Cabras"+"Arroyo Las Huertas". This stream joins "Arroyo El Carpintero" at (24.1734436, -104.705183), ca. 2.87 km NNE of here; resulting river then flows into the Presa Peņa del Aguila (Reservoir), out of which flows the "Rio La Sauceda". J Tamayo, in Geografia General de Mexico (1949), Vol.II,p.304-305, says this river and Rio Canatlan join at some point.I believe dam built after collection and altered landscape. Please correct to MEZQUITAL |

Georef. Remarks | Hot springs not found exactly, but they were probably in this vicinity. Assuming city limits in 1952 were close to the bus station at (24.0335, -104.6412). Marker placed at spring/pond seen on Mexican INEGI maps, and uncertainty radius includes larger water body 1 km to the NE, and stream on west. CAS 33901 & USNM 327320.5222816 both collected by S. H. WEITZMAN & J. D. LATTIN on August 3rd, 1952. |
