Membranipora membranacea (Linnaeus, 1767)

This bryozoan occurs in thin encrusting colonies like this one on a blade of eelgrass collected near Richmond Inner Harbor. The prominent knobs at distal corners (arrows) of the zooecia are a distinguishing characteristic of this species.
