Musculista senhousia (Benson, 1842)
This attractive bivalve is native to Asia and was most likely introduced to the West Coast of North America through the importation of Japanese oysters (Crassostrea gigas). It was first collected from San Francisco Bay in 1946 and has since been collected at densities of up to 1,000-2,000 clams per square meter from the South Bay to San Pablo Bay!
