Berries are everywhere in the west, and this is a fantastic guide to those that grow wild. After a brief introduction, the authors quickly get down to the the good stuff: what kind of berries are you likely to see. Each entry is sorted by family with individual species getting mention within the text. All entries contain information on edibility, historic uses, location, size, and more, with color photographs accompanying the entries to help with identification.
Recipes are included in a separate section, but a symbol is used within entries to indicate the presence of the recipe. A map, and illustrated glossary of plant parts, glossary of terms used, reference, and index are all included.

Monarch butterflies and celebrations for the Day of the Dead feature prominently in this touching story. Narrated by a child who spends a great deal of time with her best friend, Grandmother, the story follows them through daily life and their love of the monarch butterflies that winter near their home in Mexico. When Grandmother dies, it seems like the narrator will never be happy again, but Day of the Dead celebrations, and the return of the butterflies, cause her to remember Grandmother with love, not grief.

So Roberto decided to take matters into his own hands, helping people, becoming famous, and changing the ways that others looked at termites and that termites looked at wood.
Bright and interesting illustrations are highlights of this entertaining story.

This simple rhyming work contains realistic illustrations of animals along with representations of the constellations named after the animals. The end of the book provides further information on the constellations, including Latin name, hemisphere where it can be seen, and the best time of the year for viewing. The entries also contain information on how the constellations were named.

In this 30 minute video, a young boy and his coed group of friends travel from the city to the wilderness on a trip to learn about bald eagles. The eagle camp is at the edge of a wildlife preserve, and hiking through the woods they learn about the eagle's binocular vision that is 10 times better than human vision, they observe eagles catching fish in the river, see eaglets in the nest, observe a fledgling's first flight, watch a Native American dance of the eagle, and they learn a lot about all kinds of survival.

A variety of lessons and activities are provided for this Discovery Walk in the west end of Golden Gate Park. Ocean Beach and the Dutch Windmill are just two of the areas that you and the children can explore. The walks are divided into station areas, and each station has its own objectives and activities.
