Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex
http://www.r1.fws.gov/sacnwrc/default.htm
Located 50 to 90 miles north of the city of Sacramento, the Sacramento NWR Complex consists of 6 national wildlife refuges for a total of 52,930 acres in the Central Valley of California. The Refuges serve as a resting and feeding area for nearly half the migratory birds on the Pacific Flyway. This website contains information on the species contained in the Complex as well as information on wildlife viewing and photography opportunities
Sacramento River Conservation Area
http://www.sacramentoriver.ca.gov/
This website is dedicated to the riparian habitat along the Sacramento River. It features photographs and descriptions of the major habitat types and vegetation along the river riparian corridor. Descriptions are brief, but the photographs are very nice. Navigate to the "River Riparian Corridor" link on the homepage.
Sacramento River Winter-Run Chinook Salmon
http://www.nwr.noaa.gov/1salmon/salmesa/chinsrw.htm
The Sacramento River winter-run salmon were classified as endangered in 1994. At this site you can view detailed maps of the ranges of all runs of the chinook salmon. You can also access a summary of the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NMFS) reasons for placing the Sacramento River winter-run chinook salmon on the endangered species list.
Sacramento River Winter-Run Chinook Salmon
http://swr.ucsd.edu/psd/src.htm
A simple, but informative website containing various government documents including the "1996 Winter Chinook Biological Assessment for Ocean Harvest" and the "1997 Proposed Recovery Plan". Most interesting is the picture/diagram of the Chinook Salmon and the corresponding information on how to identify this species versus the Coho Salmon and Steelhead Trout.
