An undentified man works on the Whale Fountain sculpture that was created by sculptor Robert Howard for the San Francisco building at the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island. In 1958, the fountain was removed from storage and installed in the Academy's courtyard in front of the Steinhart Aquarium. It was dedicated at the Academy on May 25, 1958.
